Living with Intention.
Julian L.
Before working with Darren, I felt that my life was very good. I had a great relationship with my family, I attended one of the most prestigious universities in the world, I had friends I loved there.
But my main issue, which is something I didn’t think consciously about until I met Darren, was a loss of the innate motivation, creativity, and drive that had gotten me to where I was in the first place.
Due to a combination of factors, including a little disappointment with my college experience and difficulty in finding a career path that excited me, I had lost a lot of ambition, and often found myself just going through the motions – doing things to fill the time instead of truly taking ownership of my life.
Hometown: Hong Kong | currently living in Taipei, Taiwan.
I didn’t try anything to change this slump that I’d been stuck in, because I wasn’t even aware that I was in it.
Fortunately, though, I came across Darren in a Chinese class that I’d enrolled in just to keep myself busy during my gap semester, and we began to discuss our views on many topics, from semen retention (better known as NoFap) to intentionality in living our lives, to the interpersonal, social skills that many men lack.
As we talked, I became more cognizant of the areas of my own life that I wanted to commit to transforming, so I went ahead and booked a session with him.
Of course, this was when Darren was first launching his lifestyle coaching practice, so I wasn’t expecting too much. I figured it was a low-risk, high-reward situation – in the worst case, it didn’t work out, and I got to spend an hour chatting with a friend. This worst case, of course, didn’t happen.
Since Darren guided me to start defining and tracking these transformational habits daily, I’ve felt more purposeful and more intentional.
Daily meditation, exercise, semen retention, and a whole host of other habits that we laid out together have helped me to set ambitions that I can believe in, and contributed to giving me the motivation, the courage to overcome the huge barrier of passive inertia and start to make steps towards these ambitions.
I’ve started to view my professional and academic commitments as a platform for me to take true ownership of projects and constantly better myself, instead of seeing them as burdens to be endured from 9-5 each day.
Of course, other non-Darren developments in this time have been a huge help as well, and I can’t say the transformation is anywhere close to complete yet, but I credit him with sparking the seeds of change, to a significant extent.
If you’re interested in “leveling up” in any area of your life, I’d recommend you at least meet with Darren.
Before talking to him, I was more than content with my life, but after working with him, I realize I’ve come a long way in terms of discipline, purpose, and seizing each day – and I have so much room to grow still.
I find that even people who think they have their shit completely together always have some aspect of their lives that they can work to improve, and perhaps Darren can help you make that transformation for the better.
